Wesley Funchess is a board-certified family medicine physician assistant with East Charlotte Family Physicians in Charlotte, North Carolina—an affiliate of the Carolinas Healthcare System. Dedicated to providing exceptional care at every opportunity, Funchess is committed to developing lifelong relationships with patients and transforming the delivery of healthcare. His clinical interests are in the management of acute and chronic illnesses, primary care and adult medicine.
A member of the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, Funchess was previously affiliated with the Heath Springs Medical Center in Heath Springs, South Carolina, as an internal medicine physician assistant, and the South Carolina Nephrology & Hypertension Center, Inc. in Orangeburg, South Carolina, as a nephrology physician assistant where he was responsible for hospital admissions, daily rounds of the dialysis clinics, and participated in medical trials.
Funchess, who began his collegiate career at South Carolina State University, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physician assistant studies from Des Moines University – Osteopathic Medical Center and a Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
When not caring for patients, Wesley’s interests extend from football and professional wrestling to classical music.
