Colonel Timothy C. Irvin II began his law enforcement career in 1995 as a detention deputy with the Broward Sheriff's Office. Shortly after, he transferred to the Department of Law Enforcement, where he served as a road patrol deputy and SET detective in the West Park/Pembroke Park district before becoming a school resource deputy in Lauderhill. In 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant assigned first to the Pompano Beach District, followed by Internal Affairs and then the Criminal Investigations and Crime Suppression Unit in the West Park/Pembroke Park district. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2015, assigned to the Pompano Beach district, first as a Shift Lieutenant and later as the Executive Officer for Area 2. In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and was assigned to the Pompano Beach district. Throughout his time in Pompano Beach, he was instrumental in developing the district's CORE team, which utilized a community policing approach to target street-level crimes and quality-of-life issues. He was promoted to the rank of Major in March 2019. 

Timothy Irvin II is a recipient of the prestigious Charles Bingham Award for his 2002 response to a shooting at a local school. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute 78th Command Officers Development Course, the Executive Leadership Program, the Florida Leadership Academy, the Supervisory Leadership Program, Florida Sheriff's Commanders Academy, and the 279th session of FBI's National Academy in Quantico, Virginia in 2020. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from Barry University and is a NOBLE South Florida Chapter member.
